WRIGHT AND MCGILL “GRANGER SPECIAL” 9660 BAMBOO FLY ROD

This is a high condition 9’6” W&M Granger Special in outstanding original condition.  The model 9660 is rarely seen.  Weighting 6 ounces, with 19/64” and 13/64” ferrules, it was clearly intended for large waters and large fish. Probably fishes an 8wt best, or a 7wt with a sink tip.  Should be a good rod for steelhead or bass, or other large fresh water fish.

Rod features the 1938 patent Granger all NS reel seat,  6 ½” cork, no hook keeper, Perfection stripper, Granger NS ferrules, Granger Green silk, blued steel snakes, original bag and labeled tube. Condition is exceptional.  Reel seat is smooth-working and dent free, cork is fine, wraps and hardware are fine, ferrule fit is excellent, cane is straight.  The finish is superb.  The intact paper label on the tube suggests that this rod has spent very little time outdoors.
