TOM MORGAN RODSMITH, 7’6” FIBERGLASS FLY ROD, 4wt.

 Beautiful Tom Morgan Rodsmith fiberglass rod from the early years after he sold H.L. Winston in 1991.  Morgan was an artist with bamboo, fiberglass, and graphite.  His rodmaking career spanned several decades and all three materials.

This rod is made on sanded and polished brown blanks with maroon wraps tipped gold. The nickel-silver cap and ring reel seat has a polished hardwood spacer.  The cork grip is 6 ½” long with a cigar shape.  Cork check and winding check are nickel silver.  There is a floppy ring hook keeper, an agate stripping guide by Darryl Whitehead, bronzed steel snake guides, spigot ferrule, original bag and tube.

Tom Morgan rods are made on E glass blanks made by Kerry Burkheimer. The quality of the blanks and Morgan’s rodmaking skill are both superb.  This rod is in excellent-plus condition.  I will include a hard copy of Tom Morgan’s interesting article on his career and the transition to fiberglass at Winston.
