RUSS PEAK ZENITH FLY AND SPIN ROD

This is a very nice 6’6” Russ Peak combination fly and spin rod.  Weight is 2.5 ounces for a 5wt. fly line.  Serial number Zenith #12887.  Ten inch cork handle has rings for fly reel at the back or spin reel in the middle.  Features bent wire hook keeper, dark brown shafts, Aetna foulproof stripping guide, shop-made Super Z style NS ferrules, bright snake guides, original bag and marked tube. Written on the butt section, “Russ Peak ‘Zenith’ #12887 TOLE 165XL 6 ½’ 2 ½ oz.”  (Not certain what all of this means.)

In his catalog, The Russ Peak Story, Russ had this to say about the combination rods: “7 feet or less in length, usually less than 2 ½ ounces total weight…These rods are actually specially designed small fly rods built so they accommodate spinning reels without changing anything on the rod” (p.14).
