R.L. WINSTON 8’6” HOLLOW BUILT BAMBOO FLY ROD     $1300

This is an 8’6” Winston 2/2 rod, weighing 4 1/4 ounces, as marked. Serial number 7608. San Francisco rod with back composite reel seat, built in the 1950s during the time of Lew Stoner and Doug Merrick. Built as a one-tip rod, and a second tip has been added by Glenn Brackett. Fine casting rod, suitable for a 5wt or a 6wt. Features down locking SF style reel seat, 5 ¾” cork, floppy ring hook keeper, marked with owner’s name and patent number, bronze silk tipped red, Mildrum stripper, over-wrapped duronze ferrules, original bag and tube with remnants of decal. Condition is excellent except for a repair wrap on the original tip done by Glenn Brackett.  The original finish is very nearly flawless and exceptionally pleasing.  Receipt for new tip available, full provenance available.
