R.K. BOLT 7’6” 4wt. HOLLOW BUILT BAMBOO FLY ROD

This is a three-piece, 2-tip rod from Robert Bolt.  Bold is the successor to Gary Howells, and does a fine job of carrying on the West Coast tradition of hollow built rods. Bolt’s rods are well known for their excellent casting characteristics and their superb finish work.  This rod weighs 3 1/8 ounces, as marked. Ferrules are 16/64” and 10/64”.  The serial number is 1102.

The reel seat is up-locking with a hardwood spacer, with the locking band inscribed “R.K. Bolt / Maker.”  The cork is 5 ½”; there is a floppy ring hook keeper; the wraps are light brown tipped gold and red and gold at the hook keeper.  The stripping guide is Mildrum style, and the snake guides are bright steel.  Both the stripper and the snakes are finished with slight back-wraps, Winston style.  The ferrules are shop made step-down design, marked with R.K. Bolt at the welts. Both female ferrules are over-wrapped and fitted with knurled brass ferrule plugs. The varnish finish is glass-like and flawless. The only condition issues are a slight soiling on the cork and some wear on the paper rod tube label.
