H.L. LEONARD 66H BAMBOO FLY ROD, 8’ FOR  6wt LINE

This is a fine Leonard, built before the fire, probably in the 1950s during the Reynolds era.  The wraps are bright red, it has the down-locking reel seat over butternut, and the bag comes with a stiffener. The bag tag lists the weight as 4 3/8 ounces.  The butt cap is marked “Leonard / HL Leonard Rod Co.  / Makers / Reg. US. Pat. Off.”  Features 5 ½’ cork, floppy ring hook keeper, red wraps tipped green and black at the winding check and the ferrules, Perfection stripper, step-down ferrules, original bag and brass capped tube.  Cane work has 3 x 3 node placement, very slight swell at the butt, bookmatched tips.  The first guide on one tip is apparently a re-wrap, since it does not index with the other tip. All other guides index perfectly, and the tip is clearly original.  Great all around trout rod.
