ORVIS “WES JORDAN” 8’ BAMBOO FLY ROD, 4 3/8 OUNCE    $650

This is one of the special production Orvis rods made and signed by Wes Jordan.  It comes in the original leather tube.  These rods are well-respected as fine-casting rods in the 6-7-8 wt. range, perfectly suited to large water trout fishing, bass, or light steelhead.  There is abundant literature on the merits of this particular Orvis taper.  The rod features a down-locking reel seat over a walnut spacer, 6 ¾” cork, bent wire hook keeper, Carboloy stripper, second Carboloy guide on the butt, blued ferrules, and bright snakes.  All serial numbers match—59005 on the butt and both tips.  Condition is excellent.  Finish, cork, wraps, ferrules, and all guides are fine and bright. The leather tube remains supple with straps and tabs all there.  It is worth noting that this rod was build with a plain symmetrical grip and does not have the thumb and finger indentations that Jordan usually provided.  This is a fine example of a rod that has gained a distinguished reputation.
