ORVIS “SUPERFINE” GRAPHITE FLY ROD, 2wt

This is the 7’9” staggered-ferrule Orvis that later became (in 5wt) the model known as the “Far and Fine.” It weighs 1 ½ ounces.  With a 2wt, it is a delicate rod suitable for precise presentations, especially with dry flies and fine tippets.  It is very unusual to make a graphite rod with a staggered ferrule design.  In fact, I can think of no other examples.  In this case, the tip is about 3” longer than the butt.  Orvis provided a foam spacer to even out the sections in storage.  Casts a 2wt DT like a dream.

The rod features a double ring skeleton reel seat over cork spacer, 5 ½; Superfine style grip, hook keeper, stripper with insert, bright snakes, tip-over ferrule, original bag and tube.  Hard to beat for demanding water and spooky fish.
