ORVIS SHOOTING STAR SALT WATER BAMBOO FLY ROD

 Fine 9’6” 2-piece, 2-tip rod from Orvis. Serial number is 24318. The Shooting Star model was one of the first bamboo rods specifically designed for salt water fly fishing.  All guides are Aetna foulproof pattern.  Rod weighs 8 ounces,  and is marked to fish a “F2AE Nylon or GAF Silk” (a 9wt) fly line.  Features 2” extension butt, down-locking aluminum reel seat, 7” cork, no hook keeper, bright NS step-down ferrules, original bag and tube.  Label on tube is perfectly preserved.

The condition of this rod is noteworthy.   All cork, hardware, wraps, guides, ferrules, and accessories are flawless.  Slight soiling on the cork, easily cleaned.  The cane work is excellent with tight seams and 3 x 3 node spacing, slightly off.  The tips are mirrored on several splines.
