ORVIS/HARDY CFO II, ENGLAND

This is the smallest version of the CFO, suitable for lines up to 3wt. Made in Alnwick by Hardy; sold by Orvis.  Measures 2 ½” in diameter and 1” width overall.  Comes with Orvis leather and green canvas case.  Condition is very good, with some finish losses on the back, as shown, and some discoloration on the latch cover.  Also comes with what looks like a 2wt line, probably spooled without backing.   The CFO II is an uncommon size of the CFO reel, very desirable for small-stream rods, especially those with tiny reel seats.  The CFO II reels that I have seen all have a second rivet in the frame that looks like it should carry a duplicate check and spring, but it doesn’t–at least in my experience with quite a few of these reels.  Not sure what the purpose is.
