MEEK 56 FLY REEL, MADE BY HORTON

This is a 3 5/16” diameter fly reel, made and sold by the Horton Co. in Bristol CT.  The frame and spool are machined alloy, spindle and bushing are brass, gear and pawl are steel.  The reel has a horseshoe spool latch and duplicated check system, which is fixed and not adjustable.  The alloy parts of the reel are finished with something like Hardy’s leading, resulting in an attractive metallic black.  Condition is good used, with some finish wear and some end play in the spool.  The reel favors right hand wind but could be used either right hand or left hand.
