SOLD Lee Wulff/Farlow “Ultimate” Salmon Reel

$900.00

These reels were bench made in the 1960s by Farlow of London for Lee Wulff and Norm Thompson Outfitters. Designs were provided by Stan Bogdan. Bogdan’s design introduced the crescent-shaped check mechanism he incorporated into his trout and steelhead reels. It also introduced the new—and at the time radical “frameless” design that he originated (see G.R. Hilyard, Bogden, p. 33). Reel diameter is 3 1/2″ and spool diameter is 1 3/16″. Left-hand/right hand convertible, fixed check. Wulff reportedly caught a 146-pound black marlin on the first reel. According to Norm Thompson catalogs, only 200 of these reels were made; Hilyard says only 100. Comes with original leather case. Condition is excellent with some marks on rim as shown.
