HARDWOOD FLY BOX BY “DUTCH” SCHULTZ.

“Dutch” Schultz was a fly fisher and craftsman active during the 1970s and 1980s.  According to the most often repeated story, he spent his summers fishing on Henry’s Fork in Idaho, and his winters in Colorado, or possibly somewhere else.  His handmade wooden boxes are very distinctive.  Each box is marked and numbered as a model named for a friend or client—in this case “Paul’s Model #125.”  He signed the boxes as Dutch and dated each box, here May 20, 1983.  The work is meticulous, with hardwood planed to 3/16” stock, feathered mitered joints, brass hinge and closure pins, and a piece of fly line to secure the open lid.  Comes with a few tiny dry flies.  Condition is immaculate.
