H.L. LEONARD MODEL 50 ½ BAMBOO FLY ROD

This is an 8’6” pre-fire Leonard, 3-piece, 2-tip model 50 ½ in the Tournament series, best with a 5wt DT or a 6wt WF.  Also really shines with a 5wt DT silk.  The rod features cap and ring reel seat over butternut spacer, 6” cork, hook keeper, Mildrum stripper, dark English twist snakes, bright ferrules, original bag and tube.

The 50 ½ is the lightest 8’6” rod Leonard made, lighter than the model 51 or the 4099 ½.  The hang tag marks the weight as 4 1/8 ounces.  The ferrules measure 16/63” and 10/64”.  The condition is excellent with soiling to the cork but no other issues. This is a wonderful rod for general trout work—best with dries and floating sub-surface flies, but can fish a sink-tip line.
