H.L. LEONARD 8’ BAMBOO FLY ROD

This is an 8’ model 66H rod, pre-fire, 2-piece, 2-tip.  Almost certainly made in the 1950s under Reynolds, but showing some features we usually associate with post-fire rods.  Has a tan bag with stiffener, and scarlet wraps.  The tube is an older style with encircling bands on the brass cap, older style roll stamp, and it has a hanging tag.  Marked on the tag “S L mtgs / 8 feet / 4 ½ ounces / 66H.”  Ferrules are 13/64”.  Condition is exceptional, with down-locking reel seat over butternut, 5 ½” cork, floppy-ring hook keeper, Mildrum style stripper, bronzed snakes, bright ferrules all excellent.  The wraps and finish exemplify Leonard’s best work.  This rod fishes a 6wt line with excellent distance and control.
