G.E. MAURER  “SWEET WATER”  8’ BAMBOO FLY ROD

Immaculate 8’ rod from George Maurer, dated January, 2008.  Seems best with a 5wt line.  Marked as “Sweet Water / Starlight Creek Angling Society / Harry’s Rod / 2008 -01  G.E.M.”  Exceptional cane work with pronounced swell, light flaming, 3 x 3 nodes, Super Z style ferrules.  Features down-locking NS reel seat over dark hardwood spacer, 6 ¾” cork, no hook keeper, brown silk, Carboloy stripper, blued steel snakes, blued ferrules, original bag and tube. Maurer named this model for Harry Middleton, Louisiana author noted for his books on nature and fishing. Maurer himself died in 2008, so he built this rod in his final year.  This is a very difficult rod to find.
