E.F. PAYNE MODEL 206 BAMBOO FLY ROD                          $1550

This is a pre-war Payne 9’ rod originally sold by Clapp and Treat in West Hartford, CT.  Excellent rod for a 5 or 6wt. line.  Features slide-band reel seat over walnut, 5 ½” cigar grip, floppy ring hook keeper, blued agate stripping guide, blued English twist snakes, NS ferrules, original bag and 1 7/16” tube.  The rod was completely restored by Steve Blake, and not fished since restoration.  All cane is straight and full length with no issues; finish is glass-like, wraps and hardware are excellent, and the ferrule fit is superb.  The cork grip shows very light use and has not been cleaned.  Ferrules are 17/64” and 11/64”.  The rod weighs 4 7/8 ounces on my scale.
