E.F. PAYNE 9’ BAMBOO FLY ROD, MODEL 206

This is a 9’ Payne trout rod, weighing 4 ¾ ounces, with 16/64” and 10/64” ferrules. It appears to be a pre-WWII rod, judging by the cigar-shaped cork, and the ferrules with slight waists. According to the late Sante Guiliani’s checklist of Payne rod models, this is apparently a 1930s model 206. The rod has been completely restored by Steve Blake and has not been fished since restoration. Judging from the number of 9’ 4 ¾ ounce Paynes still extant, this was a very successful configuration. These rods are a delight to cast, responsive with a 5wt or 6wt line.
