A.P.I. “SPRING CREEK” TROUT REEL w/EXTRA SPOOL

These reels were designed by Oscar Kovalovsky and manufactured by Angling Products, Inc. in New Jersey.  The reel has a diameter of 3 5/8” and a width of 7/8”.   Production was limited, and the reels are seldom seen on the market.  This reel carries serial number 132. Condition is excellent with no evidence of use.

API reels are known for their innovative design and excellent workmanship.  The reel is left hand wind but may be reversible.  Comes in apparently original red fabric case for reel and spool.  Kovalovsky’s design features a central hub which contains the check, and the check adjustment mechanism.  The hub comes off to remove the spool.  The machining is noteworthy.  Tolerances are tight and finishes very fine.
