WALTON POWELL COMPANION SET - 6' 7" AND 7' 8"...$1,350 SOLD

This is one of Walton Powell's famous Companion Rods—a set of two tips and two butts which make up into two rods for different fishing conditions.  Both tips and the longer butt are 46", and the shorter butt is 33 ½".  Ferrules are 15/64".  This set is apparently from the "Golden Signature" series, marked on the tips and butts as GS 75-02.  Walton's signature is engraved on the reel seat of the full-length butt.  Condition of all components is excellent plus, with little evidence of use beyond minor soiling on the cork.  The longer version is a lively 3 ¾ ounce rod that casts a 5wt.  This is a versatile rod for trout or panfish.  The shorter version has the 33 ½" butt and the 46" tips.  This rod weighs 2 ¾ ounces.  Either by good luck or by good planning, Walt came out with an asymmetrical rod with a distinctly parabolic action comparable to a Pezon et Michel or a Constable.  Like these other parabolic rods, it is fast and crisp with a 4wt, throwing a tight loop with pinpoint accuracy.  Really fun to cast.
