R.L. WINSTON 7' ROD...$1,600 SOLD

This is an early Winston 7' rod from the 1940s, made by Lew Stoner in San Francisco.  Serial number is 6880. Glenn Bracket made the extra tip.  Steve Blake restored the rod in 2012.  Rod weight as marked on the shaft is 2 3/8 ounces; the ferrule size is 11/64".  This rod features a skeleton reel seat, duronze ferrules, two bridge guides above the stripper, blued steel snakes, and original bag and tube.  The cork grip has been slightly reduced to fit a smaller hand.  Casting characteristics are excellent with a 3wt or 4wt line.  Superb rod for small dry flies and 7x tippets, but well capable of all small-stream trout work.
