H.L. LEONARD HEWITT STYLE BAMBOO FLY ROD 9' 6"...$450 SOLD

Seldom seen Leonard Hewitt rod meticulously restored by Steve Blake. The Hewitt rods are recognized by their aggressive taper, black and white variegated silk tipped red, and distinctive flat snake guides. The 1930 Mills catalog describes the Hewitt rods as made with "a quite stiff butt and middle and limber tip." They were supposedly popular in tournament casting competition. This rod has a conventional Leonard slide band reel seat over
butternut, floppy ring hook keeper, full intermediate wraps, agate stripper, flat steel snake guides, 17/64" and 11/64" ferrules with patent dates, NS ferrule plugs, blued tip-tops. Comes with replacement bag and original tube. Rod weighs only 4 5/8 ounces. Try it with a 6wt silk line.
